The home and departureport of the Onan is Zakynthos, Greece.

Sailing grounds are the Ionian for one or two week trips on longer bookings other destinations or departure ports are optional and can be discussed beforehand.

The Ionian (Sea)

The Ionian streches from Corfu in the North till the South of the Peloponese and in this area you will find many islands and islets with colourful lively little harbours but also quiet bays and beaches. Ideal surroundings to make as well long as shorter trips that never leave you far away from a protected anchorage.

Shopping in the area

In the small towns and many villages you will find plenty of shops where you can buy everything you need and the many tavernas offer you a wide choice of delicious dishes.

Sailing routes

The skipper has very good local knowledge and surely knows those lovely spots you would have missed otherwise. Sailing routes are dicussed beforehand and according to your own experience or wishes you are welcome to participate actively in sailing the ship.

Ideal weather conditions to sail and explore the islands and bays around Zakynthos. The mostly northwesterly wind reaches greatest strength around midafternoon – just when we are sailing.

Later in the evening when we are looking for a save anchorage or harbour the wind will normally die down to ensure us of a quiet night.

Generally windstrength will be no more than 5 Beaufort, ideal for sailing. In June, July and August average daily temperature is around 30 degrees with 11 hours of sunshine and no or hadly any rain. Watertemperatures are around 23 degrees.
